Data Emporium branding

The EMF data emporium was an installation piece designed and delivered by Emma as part of her teaching practice on MA Design for Data Visualisation at the London College of Communication. It explored the potential of collective, participatory data collection and visualisation, and the power of ‘small data’ — the incomplete, the imperfect, and the hand gathered. It was hosted in July 2026 at EMF Camp — a creative technology and arts festival in the UK.

How do we use data to build community? To foster shared understanding of a collective experience? EMF Camp attendees from a wide variety of backgrounds generously contributed data on everything from sleep times, beverage preferences, personal cartographies, observations, infrastructure and more — all with humour, enthusiasm, and excitement about building a collective vision where science met art.
